At any point in time, there are one or two key objectives that a product is focused on. Ideally there should be measurement of these changes, either lifting a baseline metric, or trying to stimulate new behavior.Β

So measuring these are key:

  • How many users are doing it
  • What percentage change in the baseline
  • Any economic output from these (i.e. we believe this will increase X revenue)

Useful measures to consider:

  • Monthly and daily logins
  • Active time in product
  • Drop off points
  • Amount of engagement with features and/or customizing of the product
  • Context of the users: times of day, geography, device usage
  • Economic output of users

These all help to give context on the performance of the product, and should highlight areas to improve.
